Jacquie’s stock in trade is perspective. With more than 20 years of experience, she has looked at the public policy landscape from every possible viewpoint. She has been a public policy expert in health, innovation and trade, a government spokesperson in the public service and in politics, a private sector communications director, a lobbyist, a consultant and a volunteer.
For eight years, Jacquie worked in strategic policy then communications in the federal public service, then worked as director of communications at various organizations. Jacquie then worked as director of communications to the Minister of International Trade, Honourable Jim Peterson, from 2004 – 2006, then spent the next four years as the head of federal government affairs at GlaxoSmithKline. Her expertise, influence and networking skills were instrumental in growing a fledgling Ottawa public affairs agency into a major player where she was managing principal for five and a half years before launching Compass Rose in 2015. Jacquie has been a fixture on The Hill Times’ roster of Top 100 Lobbyists since the list’s inception in 2007.
For over 25 years, James has combined his deep business knowledge and experience with an understanding of governance and technology to help clients meet their business objectives.
He has supported Fortune 500 and public sector clients on many multi-million-dollar projects and engagements. Throughout his career, James has brought, and continued to bring, a valuable balance of creative and analytical thinking to projects at various organizations, including EDS, Hewlett Packard and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services.
Bea is a communications professional with more than a decade of experience covering politics and public policy as an award-winning former journalist. She joined Compass Rose Group in April 2016 and brings her research skills and expertise in parliamentary affairs and media relations to help clients across all industries. She has a unique ability to turn complex public policy issues into easy-to-understand narratives. Bea is a former online editor for The Hill Times and editor of Power & Influence magazine. Her varied career also includes working as researcher for the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, a web editor for Industry Canada and a strategic adviser for a local municipal election candidate.
Heather Williams is an organized leader with business and marketing acumen.
As the office manager and “lobby day” guru, Heather supports Compass Rose clients and principals by ensuring prompt action on all deliverables, taking initiative on managing events and maintaining information in an organized fashion. Heather is a graduate of the business sales and marketing program from Loyalist College where she also earned a post-graduate diploma in public relations and event management. As President of Loyalist College's Student Government, Heather oversaw plans to renovate multiple locations at the college, and sat on multiple committees. Heather now brings this hard work and dedication to Compass Rose. Heather was also named one of Loyalist College’s first Valedictorians in 2017.
Sara is one-part designer, two parts researcher and all-around aspiring librarian. As a designer with years of experience freelancing, she has worked on a variety of visual design projects, including revamping brands, creating videos that tell stories, designing annual reports and producing strong visuals for events, usually at a moment’s notice. With a diverse skillset and background, Sara is comfortable bridging and moving between disciplines. In her ideal world, context and nuance are readily accessible and easy to understand no matter where you are coming from.
Valerie is a public relations professional who’s worked with a number of start-ups, organizations and agencies across all industries. Valerie has worked in various sales and communications roles to help generate new business, form strategic partnerships, and help establish strategy, branding and messaging, both internally and for clients. She first joined Compass Rose when it launched in 2016, before going on to work as an Account Executive at OPIN Software. Valerie rejoined Compass Rose in Fall 2018 to bring her writing and communications strategy skills to clients.
Meredith Caplan Jamieson
In all the facets of her varied life, Meredith has acquired many skills that would benefit those trying to understand and access government.
Meredith began a career in film and television as an award-winning creator, producer and executive producer. She’s worked for CBC, Sullivan Entertainment, and Associated Producers, where she created and produced several critically successful projects. In 2005, she created Capture Entertainment, before moving to a farm outside of Ottawa to raise her family. Meredith currently sits on the five-person council of Bonnechere Valley Township.
