Public Affairs Counsellor
Ty Hamil is skilled at bringing out the best in organizations, business associations, not-for-profits and SMEs to increase their visibility, communicate their priorities, and find policy wins that work for everyone.
Prior to joining Compass Rose, Ty led government affairs for a national agricultural industry association where he helped members liaise with federal and provincial governments and assisted in raising the organization’s profile in Ottawa.
Born in Winnipeg but raised in southern Ontario, Hamil completed his master’s in public administration at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy in Saskatoon. His experience living and working in Western Canada allows him to see public policy from a variety of perspectives, including from a small- and medium-sized (SME) business lens.
He brings to Compass Rose his diverse experience in academic research, the federal public service, and not-for-profits. Hamil holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioural psychology from St. Lawrence College and has worked at an addictions agency, where he assisted clients both one-on-one and in group settings to brainstorm and action strategies aimed at combating their substance use disorders.
Ty is highly skilled at shaping and crafting winning grant submissions and proposals, and managing public policy events to bring high profile visibility to organizations. As a Public Affairs Counsellor, he works with clients on their communications efforts to ensure public policy aligns with their business priorities and vision.
